Foster Homes Needed for THIS Saturday 2/15!

URGENT! The weather in Tennessee this winter has been nasty! Now, one of the shelters Safe Haven Dog Rescue works with in Tennessee is in danger of flooding due to the Tennessee River being very high. The amount of rain that is forecasted over the next 7 days will only make it worse. This same thing happened last year, and they had to evacuate the dogs to cages on the fairgrounds under a tent.

There so many great dogs that have the opportunity to get out of the wet weather and come to Illinois on Saturday 2/15. Since we don’t have a physical shelter, we count on the kindness of people like you to open their homes to foster. We provide food, toys, treats, crate, leash, collar, and vetting at our participating vet offices located in Geneva, South Elgin, Elmhurst, Naperville, and Wheaton. We also have a supportive foster network ready and willing to answer questions, offer advice, and lend a hand.

These are some of the dogs that are impacted. Fostering is a very rewarding experience, and if you fall in love, you have the first option to adopt! Please let us know asap if your family can host a dog or some puppies:

Winston- Winston is a 2 year old brindle mix that would love to be a couch potato. Loves playing and cuddling up. He gets along great with other dogs. He’s not a fan of cats. Sadly, he is heartworm positive. He’ll need a foster home for 2-3 months while Safe Haven provides him treatment. Heartworm is not contagious to your pets. Do you want to cuddle Winston while he receives his heartworm treatment?

Barney- Barney’s a 2 year old black lab mix! He’s a sweet and happy boy, loves to play with toys and cuddle! He is a high energy guy and would love a back yard and a buddy to run around with! He gets along with all people and other dogs too! Sadly, he is heartworm positive. He’ll need a foster home for 2-3 months while Safe Haven provides him treatment.

Miss Daisy- Look at this sweet and happy girl! Miss Daisy was found running around in TN after she’d been adopted. We’re not sure why her family would abandon her. This girl is about 45lbs and very fun and spunky!

Will- Will is a 5 year old, 60 pound hound mix. He is a happy boy who would love to snuggle with a nice soft blanket. Will loves people and is extremely friendly! He’s a typical happy dopey hound. Will is excited about everyone he meets!

Mr. Big- Mr. Big is a 65-pound 2-year-old mix. He’s a happy guy, who would love to be a couch potato. He lived in a home that didn’t have a fenced in yard and kept wandering away. His family found out that he was at the shelter but didn’t want to come get him. Sadly, he is heartworm positive. He’ll need a foster home for 2-3 months while Safe Haven provides him treatment.

Bailey – Bailey is a beautiful and very unique looking dog! He’s orange brindle with long fur. Maybe he’s a retriever mix? Bailey loves people and attention. He’s good with other dogs too! Bailey is 1 year old, 50lbs and heartworm negative! He could use some help learning to walk on a leash. Make Bailey your valentine!

Barney Boy – Barney Boy is a beautiful orange mix with longer fur. He’s Heartworm NEGATIVE! He’s shy at the shelter but already coming around! He’s 50lbs and very sweet! Barney Boy was found wandering the streets with his buddy Bailey. We don’t know why someone would dump such a sweet pair!

Comanche is a beautiful 50lbs black lab mix. He’s about 1 year old. Comanche is not so sure about life at the shelter. He’s a happy dog and would like to relax in a foster home!

Kanga – Kanga has really come out of his shell this week! The shelter says he’s a sweet and energetic boy looking for a playmate! Kanga is 1.5 years old and about 60lbs. This happy dark chocolate lab would like to be your valentine. Kanga is HW NEGATIVE!

Doogie Bowser – Doogie Bowser is a 1-year old 45lbs Great Dane mix that’s underweight! Doogie is looking for a foster home to help him get back to a healthy weight. He’s a little shy at the shelter but he will blossom in a loving home!

Cooper is a 1 year old shepherd mixed with something smaller - possibly corgi! He's super sweet and loves to play with other dogs! He's 40lbs!

The Starbucks Family! Or should we say Starbarks! Mom Mocha, along with pup’s Chino, Java, & Frappe were dropped off at the shelter and are looking to get out ASAP! The puppies are 8 weeks old and about 10lbs each. We can only bring them up if we find fosters for mom and all four puppies!

Mocha is as sweet as can be. She keeps a clean kennel and just wants to love on all the people she meets. She was a great mom to her little beans, but now is looking to get some love and attention of her own! Mocha is 50lb lab mix.

Don’t wait- We need to know by THIS Wednesday 2/12 in order to get them vetted and on the transport list.
